e.l.f. : a possible beauty breakthrough?

Anybody ever heard of/used e.l.f. cosmetics? I read about the company in People’s Style addition. It prides itself on selling cheap (most things are only $1!!!) designer-quality makeup and makeup tools. I’m very curious.
Could it be too good to be true, or is it simply a FABULOUS FIND? If e.l.f. is really as good of a deal as it seems, I’m beginning to wonder how other companies sucker us into spending up to $30 on a mascara or lip gloss?
I plan on ordering something from their website soon, so I’ll keep you guys posted.
