Latisse– The Secret to Long Luscious Lashes?

Like many women, I’m not entirely satisfied with my eyelashes. They’re fairly dark, but they’re lacking luster. Could Latisse change that for me?

Latisse is the only FDA approved eyelash growth treatment with Lumigan, an ingredient that is clinically proven to increase and speed up hair growth.

Lumigan was originally used as a drug to treat glaucoma patients. Patients applied drops of it to their eyes. One unintentional side effect of the drug was that regular use caused patients’ eyelashes to grow longer, thicker, and darker. This was observed years ago but it wasn’t until recently that the FDA approved the drug to be used cosmetically. The result is Latisse.

Latisse is available by prescription only, but it’s not difficult to get. I walked into my local plastic surgeon’s office simply to ask about it, and I walked away $120 poorer, but with Latisse in my hands. According to latisse.com, “users may see results starting at 8 weeks with full results at 12 to 16 weeks.”

It looks like my journey toward luscious lashes will be a long one, but I’ll keep the photos coming every week, I promise.

To track the progress of my experiences with Latisse, without having to sift through all my other blog entries, go to the right side of my blog labled “tags” and click on “Latisse.

Basic information (from my understanding) about Latisse:
+It’s available by prescription only.
+It costs $120 (per month, which works out to be about $4 a day)
+Possible side effects include darkening of the iris, which is not dangerous to your health
+It is applied once a day

If you do not use the included brushes, and use a thin regular eyeliner brush instead, your bottle of Latisse can last about 10 weeks. Put only one drop in the cap of the bottle, and that is enough to treat both eyes, with a little left over for your eyebrows if needed there too. Also you can do upper and lower lashes, right at the lash line base. I got this info from the website of Dr. Lorrie Klein of California. After the initial 16 weeks, you can go to about 3 times a week for application. It is not as expensive as it first seems. Good luck–I love it.

That’s good to know because using Latisse the way you’re directed to is very expensive! Thanks for the tip!

Hi Sarah,

My sister used Li Lash with great results, and then switched to Latisse. I think LiLash gave her better results because now her eyelashes seem not as thick as with LiLash and even shorter… anyway good luck! :)

I, too, had to jump on the lash-growth serum craze, but decided to try Revitalash. I have a couple of friends who use it and their lashes are stunning. I’m very happy with the way my lashes are looking. It’s been 8 weeks and they’re definitely longer and curlier. When I use mascara, they’re long enough to hit my brow bone. Revitalash was developed by an eye doctor, so I feel safe using it. I’ve read several scary stories about Latisee and long term effects…

Enjoyed reading about your experience…would love it if you shared the same with our beauty community where we have over 100 other real testimonials about Latisse (http://www.realself.com/Latisse/reviews). Thanks for considering it!
