Florals and Stripes

These days clothing stores everywhere seem to be stocked with stripes, upon stripes, upon stripes. They’re everywhere! Now don’t get me wrong – I’m not complaining. I love the fun, sailor look that is absolutely unavoidable when stripes are in the picture (especially when they’re blue and white). A little cheesy, but cute!

While bargain shopping a few weeks ago at Forever 21 and H&M, I inevitably walked away with quite a few striped items. I couldn’t stop myself… I’m not sure if my eyes were just really drawn to all the stripes or if my purchasing pattern was simply a reflection of my utter lack of creativity (I hope not!). But at any rate, my closet is now filled with striped items.

Similarly, I went through a floral period at one point in my life (who hasn’t?) and ever since I’ve been searching for excuse to recycle my most flowery of clothing. I was looking into my closet this morning, totally uninspired, when I my eyes darted to an outfit pairing that I swear was calling my name.

Stripes and floral! Floral and stripes! So I went with it…

I decided to brave the cold this morning with bare legs (in the name of fashion, of course), sporting a knee-length floral skirt and a red and white striped sweater. Now to be honest, I would have much preferred to have worn my blue and white striped t-shirt with this skirt, but I would have been much too cold and have felt utterly ridiculous. Oh well.

Anyway, whether we like it or not, stripes are ‘in’ this year. Is this something you’re are embracing? Tell me!
