I spent last weekend celebrating my friend Joani’s birthday with a few friends in San Diego. We stayed in the Gaslamp District, which is next to downtown. My mom, to help put herself though college at San Diego State University, used to be a bookkeeper for the Old Spaghetti Factory in Gaslamp, before it became the major tourist location that is is today. They’ve since shut down the restaurant she worked at and rebuilt it and many other restaurants and bars in that area. It’s such a cute part of town filled with tons of shopping, food and exciting nightlife. I highly recommend visiting!
If you have any interest, here are a few snapshots of me and my friends from the trip.

To save a little money, we flew in to Long Beach and took the train to San Diego. Here is Emily and Joani on the train. Note Joani’s birthday balloon, which made a fabulous addition to the train decor.
After getting in on the train fairly late, we spent our first night (Thursday night) having a low key evening at a nice restaurant/bar down the street from our hotel named La Puerta.
Here are Emily and I getting ready for our first night out in San Diego.
The next morning, we went to breakfast at a place called the Broken Yolk and topped off the morning with some Bloody Mary’s. Mmm spicy!
On Friday during the day, we took a cab out to Pacific Beach which was about 25 minutes away from our hotel. We spent the day on the beach and the evening visiting the cute little beach bars and restaurants.
I took my first shotski (which is literally shots on a ski)…
For our last night, we went back to La Puerta. But first, we posed for some ridiculous pictures.
And here are some words of wisdom from a sign on the wall at one of the restaurants we ate lunch at…
I hope you all have as lovely a weekend this weekend as mine was last!
