My weekend and a few apartment decor updates

My Instagram photo above (follow along @Sarah_Helfgott) embodies the overall tone of last weekend, at least for me. Outside on our deck, reading, working, enjoying our view, and relaxing. And visiting with friends (not pictured), naturally.

Yes, last weekend was a good one. After being out of town four weekends ago, doing graduation stuff (not my graduation) three weekends ago, and then out of town again two weekends ago, it was nice to have one weekend with no obligations at all to relax and enjoy summer.

And enjoy I did. We had the opportunity to do some stuff around our apartment that we’d been meaning to do, like buying and setting up a grill. And even the littlest things, like re-stoking our fridge and filling our fruit bowl ended up bringing me such joy. Finally, it was warm enough to spend pretty much all day and all evening outside, and we took full advantage.

Here are a few snapshots of some of the fun updates we’ve made to the apartment lately. Because as you know, for an indecisive woman like myself, the decor of a home is always a work in progress.

{remember my dissatisfaction with our living room decor? well for now, I’ve replaced the painting that used to hang above our couch with these simple, gold and black pieces from Burlington Coat Factory (of all places).}

{and our new grill gives our deck that last touch of “homie-ness” that it needed. is there anything sexier than a man and his BBQ? i think not.}

Although last weekend was nearly perfect, I’m looking forward to some sun in our near future. Everyone says that summer in Portland really starts around July 5th. Bring. It. On.
