Instagram web profiles JUST launched this week! Now you can share your Instagram photos with non-Instagram users through the web. And Instagram users can log in online and interact with each other’s profiles and photos.
To see your own profile, go to Instagram.com/YourScreenName. And you can check out mine here.
Before, photo sharing through Instagram was more or less limited to our mobile devices (and to those of us who have phones that support Instagram) but with Web Profiles it is suddenly much more accessible. This is big a step toward expanding the photo-sharing community. From a fashion blogger’s perspective, Instagram has not only provided me with another platform to share outfits, but it has given me the opportunity to provide a more personal extension of my blog. Web Profiles have expanded that.
You tell me… Are Instagram Web Profiles something you’re excited about? Or do you feel like they detract from the integrity of mobile photo sharing?
Although Seattle is a mere three-hour drive from Portland, I’ve only visited a handfull of times. So last Saturday, my friends Joani, Stacey and I decided to make the trip up for the day and night. We did some of the “usual” tourist things:
- lunch at Pikes Place
- coffee at the original Starbucks
- window shopped at the original Nordstrom
- pumped our own gas (which is illegal in Oregon)
- enjoyed a taste of Seattle’s night life
- and fought off an intruder on our way home
Pretty much everything about Seattle reminds me of Portland, from the people to the weather to the restaurants and shops… But the similarities are comforting and we all agreed that the trip was a welcome, subtle change of scenery for the day.
ON ME: Zara coat (similar styles here, here, and here), MANGO tee, Citizens jeans, Target boots, my mom’s Marc Jacobs bag.
ON STACEY: J Crew hoodie (similar style here and here), Nordstrom leather jacket (similar style).
ON JOANI: H&M jacket (similar style).
Outfit details (below):
On me: Boohoo top, AG jeans, ASOS ankle-strap pumps, & Nordstrom watch.
ON JOANI: F21 dress.
ON STACEY: Nordstrom jacket, Nordstrom tights.
I’ll be honest… I don’t enjoy fitness. I’m not athletic, and never have been. Even running makes me hate my life. But no matter how much I complain, it doesn’t change the fact that fitness is good for me (and not just for ME – for you, too!). Human beings need fitness. We need to be active.
Over the years, I’ve discovered a number of things that make working out more bearable. For example: doing something active with a friend, walking from my apartment into downtown (because I know there’s shopping at the end!), taking a fun class… And OF COURSE, cute workout clothes – ones that make me feel confident and inspired!
And what’s better than cute workout clothes? Cute, CHEAP workout clothes! I’ve rounded up two great outfits made up of five items each – each item (significantly) under $50. Enjoy!
Pink, White & Black outfit
1. VS PINK Slouchy Razorback Tank ($17.50)
I have this in white AND black!
2. C9 by Champion Womens Seamless Cami Sports Bra in Flashbulb Fuchsia ($16.99)
3. VS PINK Bling Yoga Shortie ($29.50)
I have the cropped pants version. They’re also great for lounging around the house.
4. VS Fleece Side Zip Crop Pant ($48)
5. Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Leisure Hoodie in ‘Fresh White’ ($17.99)
Cute, classic, and much less expensive than the similar American Apparel version.
Neon, Grey & Black outfit
1. C9 by Champion Womens Duo Dry Endurance Tank in Black Heather/Yellow ($14.99)
These run a size small. I have one in size Large (but it’s super roomy – I ended up cutting the bottom to make it more of a crop top.)
2. C9 by Champion Womens Reversible Racerback Bra in Camouflage/Yellow ($14.99)
This is reversible so it’s like having two bras in one! I usually wear the neon side facing out.
3. C9 by Champion Womens Reversible Shorts in Yellow Flash/Gray ($12.99)
4. Gap Gapfit Breathe Hoodie ($49.95)
SO comfortable! I also love the Gapfit Breathe Tanktops because they feel like heaven against your skin!
5. Old Navy Womens Active Duffle Bag ($15.97)
As you can see, I gravitate toward more yoga-type clothes because they serve a duel function. I can wear them while lounging around the house AND while working out. I’m also not doing a lot of high-impact activity, so they work out pretty well.
What types of athletic clothes do you feel best in? Do you usually stick with designer brands like Nike, or lean more toward budget brands?
You may remember back when we first moved in to our new place that I did a post about our bathroom countertop. I showed you how I lay out products on my counter and asked how you stay organized (because it has always been a challenge for me!) Since then, I’ve seen countless photos that inspire me (most recently in this post from Cupcakes and Cashmere) to bring a more uniform and glamourous look to my bathroom aesthetic. I couldn’t have asked for better pieces to do this than those from world-renowned artist Michael Aram.
In celebration of the New Molton Collection, the folks over at Michael Aram were kind enough to send over some beautiful stainless steal dishes for me to display my pretty little things. As you can see, I’ve already made good use of them – using the Nut Dish to hold my rings and earrings at the end of a night out (it sits beautifully on my bathroom counter now!); the Long Snack Dish to display my perfumes (also now on my counter); and the Mini Snack Dishes to serve up some of my favorite sweets in our kitchen.
So if you’re looking for some pretty ways to display your jewelry, makeup, perfume (or food!) then I highly recommend you check out some of Michael Aram’s beautiful, handmade pieces. In the month of June 2012, Michael Aram is running a promotion that offers customers a free gift with purchase when they spend $150 or more at michaelaram.com – so this month is a good one for making purchases.
On an unrelated note, I’m off to San Diego on Thursday to spend a long weekend in the heat (crossing my fingers for sun!) with some girlfriends. If anybody has any recommendations for some fun things to do or places to visit to while we’re there, feel free to send them my way! During the four days I’m in California, I may not be able to get a post out on the blog but I’ll be keeping my Twitter and Instagram (@Sarah_Helfgott) updated so that you can follow along and see what we’re up to on our trip, if that interests you.
Disclosure: I was given Michael Aram products free of charge but the comments and opinions expressed in this post are my own.
