By now, I don’t think anybody needs to be reminded of what a staple the good ‘ol striped shirt is. As a goes with everything, throw on with jeans, gateway drug into pattern mixing, the striped shirt is here to stay.
But in case you feel like the thousand striped tops in your closet aren’t getting remixed as much as you’d like, here are some examples of how the stripe shirt can help you achieve three completely different looks.

Let’s be honest, the star of this outfit is really the camel coat. Without it, this would just be another basic jeans and striped top look (which there is nothing wrong with – but we’re trying to be creative here!) One of my biggest regrets of the season is not purchasing the perfect camel coat when I had the chance. And as quickly as they’ve gone on sale, they’re selling out (and not being re-stocked for spring!) The coat in this collage is from Victoria’s Secret, but in case it’s sold out by the time you read this, here are some other options from Vince Camuto and Forever 21.

I know in the past I’ve beaten everyone over the head with my obsession with leather jackets (in fact – I’m saving up for this one now), but I’ve never talked before about how cute they are with striped tops! So here you go. I’m almost positive that the jacket the girl is wearing in the collage above is this Victoria’s Secret jacket because my friend Joani owns that one and I’ve seen first-hand that the hardware is much more gold in person than it looks on the Victoria’s Secret website (in fact, it looks exactly like the jacket on the girl in the collage.)

I wore an outfit similar to this one back in one of my very first outfit posts. But since then, Blaire from Atlantic-Pacific has put together a much cuter version (above). Not only is hers better accessorized than mine (without overdoing it), but I like that she went as classic as possible with her striped top. It’s old news that florals and stripes compliment each other, but her take on this style is completely fresh.
Honorable mentions:Since this post is all about the striped shirt, here are some other striped options that didn’t make it into the collages… ASOS sweater dress, MNG by Mango top, Forever 21 top.
Your turn to share! How much use do you get out of your striped tops? How do you remix them? Or do you prefer to wear them one particular way?
Ps. I just created a Facebook Page for my blog. If you’re a reader and want to get updates in your newsfeed when there are new posts (and the occasional other rambling from yours truly) you should ‘Like’ Confessions of a Product Junkie’s Facebook Page.
