Birthday Jumpsuit

Striped jumpsuit and gucci belt outfit. (Via Confessions of a Product Junkie blog.)

Today is my 29th birthday and I’m spending it at a dear friend’s wedding celebrating her love (and also just happen to be surrounded by some of my closest friends and favorite people). In other words, it’s a great way to spend the day.

My 20s have been awesome – lots of life milestones and countless incredible memories – but the closer I get to 30 the more I appreciate how my perspective has evolved over the past nine years. There’s a certain confidence and security that comes with getting older and I’m looking forward to the last year of my 20s and what the next decade has in store.

Macy’s Gift Card Giveaway (Closed) + Life Update

Distressed jeans with cage sandals and an off the shoulder top

Hello lovely readers! Remember me? Sorry I’ve been a so MIA lately. In case you haven’t heard, we bought a house and moved this month (I know, it happened so quickly). Because of time constraints, poor Carter had to take care of the move all by himself while I was in on a last-minute work trip to Texas. Then pretty much as soon as I got home and we’d barely had the chance to start unpacking, I got super sick and was stuck in bed for a week. Then it was my bestie’s wedding in Hood River last weekend. In other words, the last 30 days have been crrraaazzzyyy. Mostly good (except for my bout of illness), but cray.

At any rate, you may remember back on May 31st when I blew up your instagram stories with boomerangs of me trying on the new Cynthia Rowley Collection for Macy’s. Such a fun collection! I also promised you a $100 Macy’s gift card giveaway! Well, I’m finally ready to deliver on that promise. The fun part is you can totally use the card to buy something from the Cynthia Rowlery collection, OR you can use it on whatever you want from Macy’s! They carry pretty much everything you could possibly need (ranging from home goods, clothing, accessories and shoes, to beauty) which is why they are one of my absolute favorite department stores. I could seriously wander the Washington Square Macy’s all day long, getting lost in their exclusive brand departments (RACHEL by Rachel Roy and Bar III are hidden gems!) and their Benifit Brow Bar is my go-to for eyebrow waxes. I’ve linked to a few of my favorite products from Macy’s website down at the bottom of this post, just in case you need some inspiration for how to spend your winnings :)

My Picks From Macy’s:

Black & White

Personal style is so subjective. And frankly, there’s nothing really personal or original about this outfit. I didn’t do anything revolutionary here. I’m not wearing anything particularly trendy (aside from the spikes on my necklace and shoes) that deserves praise for originality or a round of applause for bravery.

But with all that said, there’s nothing that exceeds expectations quite like the classic color combination of black and white. No pop of color, pattern or fabric can outshine this no-fail duo. Sometimes while trying to be original or chasing the trends, that fact gets lost on me. On occasion, it’s nice to be reminded that sometimes less really is more. And of the beauty in simplicity.

Dog walkin’ shoes

Before you judge me, I want you to know that I don’t usually wear shiny stilettos to take our dog out. But when I’m already running late to meet the girls for happy hour, I only have a few short minutes to take outfit photos, and I’m already dressed – well, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Anyway, considering my love of pink, it’s not surprising that I’m seriously obsessed with these jeans. (I got them to replace my J Crew pair I was so excited about, which I devastatingly ruined in the wash after only wearing once!) The pair of pink jeans I’m wearing here are from Free People and I love everything about them from the length, to the fit, to the color. Perfection.

Free People is a funny company because their tops, dresses, and sweaters are really overpriced (in my opinion) – but their jeans are always priced so reasonably! I won’t pretend to understand their pricing model, but I’m not complaining… My two favorite pairs of pants (the pair that I’m wear in this post and my pink pair) both came from Free People and were both under $100!

On an unrelated note, hasn’t Winston gotten big?! He’s practically a man now! It’s hard to believe that he’ll be a year old in June. It feels like just yesterday that I was first showing you pictures of our teeny, tiny puppy.
